How does plantar fasciitis cause heel pain?

A:

Plantar fasciitis is a condition that affects the band of tissue that runs below the foot from the ankle to the toes. This band, called the plantar fascia, over time can suffer from multiple small tears and injuries. These micro tears cause inflammation at the point where the ligaments connect to the heel.

This inflammation causes pain in the heel. Sometimes, heel spurs or bone spurs form, due to the constant inflammation of the plantar fascia. As experienced podiatrists in Wayne, NJ, we are very familiar with the pain associated with plantar fasciitis. Our goal is to find the source of your pain and end it as quickly as possible.

  • Walking cast
